What to wear in the Winter if you can't wear wool?

if you have sensitive skin, chances are even fine merino or alpaca make your skin itch and feel very uncomfortable. Knitwear search becomes tricky because it’s hard to find tops that are warm and not made of acrylic or polyester.

When it comes to knitwear, I definitely think it’s a part of your wardrobe worth investing in. Good quality knitwear is practical and looks very chic. My favourites are cotton and cashmere. Actually these are the only fabrics I wear in the Winter.

Cashmere is few times warmer than wool and luxuriously soft. Cotton on the other hand can be a bit cold to the touch so it’s good to find different tops to mix and layer with other garments in your Winter wardrobe.

Fitted turtleneck

Smart and very easy to style in almost every season. Layer it underneath an oversized blazer or white shirt for a casual yet chic look. If you feel a bit more glam or feminine you could pair it with a slip dress.

Classic crew neck cashmere jumper.

This one is an absolute staple in typical Parisian wardrobe. Maybe due to its versatility, because you can create countless outfits with it and still look chic. Depending on your style, you can choose more fitted or oversized item. Style it with jeans or cigarette trousers for “borrowed from my boyfriend” look. You can throw it on top of your favourite midi dress and add a blazer or leather jacket for cool finish.

Cardigan

Feels more dressed up and sophisticated than a basic crew neck. It can be worn buttoned up or down. This knit will work hard in your wardrobe all year round. You can wear it with jeans in the Winter or on top of flowy dress in Summer. This year I’ve been loving wearing my cardigan over the shoulders. It’s very nonchalant but practical as you can use it as an extra layer when you get cold.

Oversized chunky jumper

Easy to style casual knit. My first choice on the school run as it keeps me warm and comfy. When you want to feel and look more put together, pair it with midi skirt or leather leggings, chunky boots and maxi wool coat.
